2024 Legal Update, Chapter Annual Meeting and Holiday Networking Event

2024 has been another interesting year for retirement plan developments, guidance, and litigation. David Eckhardt, partner in Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation at Husch Blackwell, will discuss the following:

• Recent court decisions regarding plan forfeitures and excessive fees
• Recovering overpayments
• Matching contributions for student loan payments
• Required minimum distributions
• Cybersecurity updates
  

On the health plan side, this year was a hot time for legal developments affecting health and welfare plans. Katherine Kratcha, a shareholder at Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren, will discuss topics that employers need to know and potentially take quick action on for 2025, including:

• Focus on privacy, from reproductive health care to cybersecurity:  What steps must you take to protect your plan participants?
• New Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act regulations:  Are you ready to certify as a fiduciary?
• New ACA nondiscrimination regulations:  Who is subject and what do you need to do to comply?
• Recent court decisions and other legal developments impacting health plans
